All lanes reopened following an early morning two-vehicle crash on the A19 southbound

An early morning collision on the A19 southbound between the A1231 and A183 junctions had forced the partial closure of one lane.

Officers received a report shortly after 7am on Thursday, February 11, of a two-vehicle collision on the A19 southbound between the A1231 Wessington Way junction and the A183 Chester Road junction.

The crash is understood to have involved a broken down vehicle and one lane is partially blocked due to the incident.

Police have confirmed that emergency services attended the scene to carry out checks and wait for recovery services to arrive.

North East Live Traffic have tweeted, saying: “A19 Southbound residual delays remain near the A183 junction and all lanes open again after an earlier two-vehicle RTC.”

At the time, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a broken down vehicle at 7.07am on Thursday.
