Delays and cancellations hit Metro services as the working week begins

A series of Metro services have been cancelled, while signalling problems have led to delays on the network this morning.

As the timetable began today, Monday, November 9, issues led to problem with the trains running in both directions between Airport and Kingston Park, leading to delays of up to 15 minutes.

It has been followed by further details of up to 20 minutes between Airport and South Hylton and 15 minutes in the opposite direction caused by further signalling problems.

The service has also said a number of services will be cancelled today due to driver availability.

A spokesperson said: “Please leave extra time for your journey.

"Sorry for the inconvenience caused.”
