Chester Road reopens after police deal with three-vehicle collision involving bus

A busy Sunderland road was closed after a collision involving a bus.

Chester Road has now reopened near the university campus after the accident at lunchtime today, Sunday, November 22.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said of the incident: “Police are at the scene.

"It is a collision near the university involving three vehicles, one of which is a bus.

"No-one has been injured but there is substantial damage to the bus, which is blocking the carriageway.”

Go North East services 2, 39, 35a and 78 were unable to serve stops at Chester Road, Sunderland Royal Hospital and Ormond Street.
