A19 slip road closed for drainage works over weekend

Drivers are being reminded that diversions will be in place over the weekend as the exit slip roads at the A19/A690 junction will be closed.

The roundabout between the A19 Northbound entry and A19 Southbound exit slip roads at the A19/A690 junction will have diversions in place as the roads will be closed for drainage works.

As part of the ongoing improvements at the A19/A690 junction, section of the A690/A19 roundabout will be closed for the duration of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January 2021.

Drivers will be diverted northbound on A19 to A19/A183 roundabout and then return southbound on A19 to A690 junction.

Sunderland City Council say the closure is necessary to conducts drainage works.

Deputy Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Paul Stewart said: "As a council we are committed to continually upgrading and improving our highways network for residents and businesses and we appreciate motorists patience while this important work takes place.”
