
Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called to the junction of A184 Front Street and Boker Lane at 1.15pm on Tuesday, August 20.
Police officers diverted traffic from the area, with queues of motorists forming in the wake of the crash.
NEAS sent a double-crewed ambulance to the scene and gave treatment to the man at the collision site.

Paramedics have since taken him to Sunderland Royal Hospital’s accident and emergency department for further assistance.
The ambulance left the scene at 2.52pm.
North East Live Traffic has since reported the congestion on the A184 westbound route through Boldon has cleared between the village and A1018 at Fulwell and towards the direction of Hylton Lane.
