The event, Bridging The Gap, is aimed at both barbering students and barbering employers across the North East, in an aim to make better connections between the two groups.

MK has worked at shows throughout Europe and also featured on TV shows such as Blue Peter, and is an ambassador for the Hair Council, the National Hairdressers’ Federation and also City and Guilds.

He said: “I can’t wait to hold this event at the college’s Peterlee campus. I have visited the site a couple of times now and it’s a great venue.

“With this event we are aiming to showcase the fantastic work that is being done in barbering education at places such as East Durham College, and show the local barbering employers that there is some great talent on their doorsteps who are ready to come into their salons and work on clients.

“Employers need to see how important official barbering qualifications are, but also we need these employers to give students positive work placements as they will further help the students talents to grow.”
