Three people escape as fire causes serious damage to Sunderland flat
Three people escaped after fire tore through a Sunderland flat today.
Two crews from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze in a flat above a shop in Garfield Street, Pallion, shortly after 4pm today, Monday, April 13.
A brigade spokeswoman said: “The call came in at 16.11 and we left at 17.55,” she said.
“Two crews from Sunderland Central Fire Station attended the scene. The flat was badly damaged.
“Three people were checked over at the scene.”
