Three fishermen rescued by RNLI off the Sunderland coast after 999 call from Roker Pier anglers

A lifeboat crew has saved three fishermen from drowning off the coast of Sunderland.

The RNLI was contacted at 1.56pm on Saturday, September 19, following a 999 call from anglers on Roker Pier.

Two inshore lifeboats were immediately launched.

All three men were pulled out of the sea and onto one of the lifeboats, before being given emergency care on their way back to Sunderland Marina.

Once ashore the three men were assessed by paramedics, before being taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.
