Two teenagers had to be rescued after getting cut off by the tide at Marsden Bay.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 4.30pm today, Saturday, January 16.
Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team, South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade and Tynemouth RNLI inshore lifeboat were involved in the operation.

They were located and evacuated by the lifeboat before being landed on a nearby beach. Both were safe and well.
