Teenage motorcyclist is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering serious head injuries in crash

A 17-year-old boy is fighting for his life after his motorbike left the road and hit a brick wall in a crash.

The collision happened in Princess Road.

The motorcyclist is critically ill in hospital after suffering serious head injuries in the incident, which happened in Princess Road, Dawdon, on Thursday, March 5.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, for treatment following the crash. His injuries are described as life-threatening.

The crash happened at around 12.40pm as the 125cc motorcycle he was riding was heading south along Princess Road.

Durham Constabulary has today – Friday, March 6 – launched an investigation into the crash and is calling for information from the public.

Officers carrying out inquiriesinto the crash are appealing for witnesses to come forward and, in particular, anyone who has dashcam footage.
