Teachers strike: How schools in Sunderland and County Durham will be affected

As teachers set to strike across the country tomorrow we look at which schools will be affected in the city.

Members of the the National Union of Teachers (NUT) will walk out on July 5 in what will be the union's first national day of action since 2014.

Teachers voted in favour of industrial action in order to address school funding and to resume negotiations on teacher contracts.

The following schools in Sunderland will be closed and partially closed to pupils:

Bexhill Academy Sunderland- Nursery and reception Years 1, Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 are closed. Year 3 and Year 4 are open.

Belmont CE (VC) Primary School - Only class 6 is affected, the school is open for all other classes.

Dene House Primary School - Only the following classes are affected:- RecK, Y3/4D, Y5F & Y5/6L. Children in other classes are to attend as normal.

Durham St Margaret's CofE Primary School- The school will be closed for the following classes only: Red Class, Lilac Class and Rainbow Class. The school is open for all other classes.

Fencehouses Woodlea Primary School- closed for Y3 pupils only. All other year groups are open as normal.

Framwellgate School Durham -School will be open to students in Years 10 and 12 but closed to Years 7, 8 and 9.

Lumley Infant and Nursery School;- The nursery will remain open.
