Swimmer rescued by Coastguard after midnight dip near Sunderland marina
The team was called out for sixth time in 24 hours to reports of a person in the water shouting for help near the marina shortly before 1am.
"On arrival we located two individuals who had decided to go for a late night swim," said a spokesman.

Hide Ad"One of them came out the water and the second was assisted from the water by Coastguard officers.
"The two were handed over to the police and, with no one else in difficulty, the team were stood down.
"Seaham Coastguard and RNLI Sunderland Lifeboat Station also attended the scene to provide assistance.
"Remember - dial 999 in all coastal emergencies and ask for the Coastguard."
