The Welsh club have again reiterated that Ayew is not for sale, despite Sunderland continuing their bid to sign the Ghana international before the transfer deadline.

The possibility of signing Borini is thought to have been mooted by the Welsh club during the transfer talks between the two clubs, raising the possibility of a swap deal.

However, as the Echo reported earlier this week, Borini's camp have not been involved in any concrete discussions and the Italian expects to remain at the Stadium of Light this month.

And while Swansea coach Alan Curtis today admitted the club's interest in Borini, he stressed it will not be at the expense of losing Ayew.

"Fabio would be one of a number of players whose name has been mentioned," said Curtis.

"But the talk of Andre going there as some sort part of the deal is wide of the mark.

"I spoke to the chairman this morning just to clarify the situation and he assures me that there is no way that Andre will be allowed to leave during this window.

"On that basis, whether Fabio was part of a deal involving Andre I don't know, but certainly Andre is out of the deal.

"Fabio Borini would be one of a number of players that we are looking at."
