Support your local talent

Last Saturday, the students of the Newcastle Folk Music Degree Course performed. Their skill and ability was second to none.

They are displaying everything that a city of culture needs. This is true of everyone who performs here.

My point is that this council sees fit to increase the hire charge of the room so that it is impossible to continue to run the club on a weekly basis as it has done for the last 40-plus years.

This council should be ashamed that it cannot support local and national talent who try to keep our heritage alive.

Perhaps if only one councillor visited the club they would appreciate what an asset this club is to our city of culture bid.

Come on, Sunderland Council, support your local talent in your current effort to achieve City of Culture status.
