Sunshine is expected in Sunderland today although rain could fall later on.
The Met Office forecasts sunny spells across the city until about 5pm when there could be light showers.
Those showers are expected to fall until about 7pm.
Forecasters expect the weather to get warmer as the week goes on, although there is a strong chance of rain on Friday.
