Sunderland Sunday League: Grange Park clinch second successive title in super style

The club only formed in the summer of 2016 and they made an immediate impact, lifting the Third Division championship last season.

They completed a promotion double last weekend, when a 2-2 draw against second-top Pennywell Comrades confirmed their Second Division title success.

Conor Slee and Jordan Howell hit Pennywell’s goals, but Shaun Conlon and Nath Crighton grabbed Grange Park’s most important goals of the season to win the league in style.

Manager Adam Muldown was delighted for his players, and sponsors Deepfields Property Services Ltd and the Halfway House pub, and said of his men: “They can’t wait for the next season to get underway in Division One.”

This season, Grange Park, skippered by Nathan Crighton, have gone up with 16 wins and two draws in their 18 games, making it 37 wins, three draws and just two defeats since joining the league.

Shaun Conlon and Shaun Fisk are their two top goalscorers, but the Grange Park success story is down to the all-round team effort.
