Luna the Snowdog is being patched up after receiving damage.

The sculpture, which is based outside Sunderland Minster as part of the Great North Snowdogs arts trail, has sustained some scratches and has a small hole.

But those hoping to see all the dogs before the trail closes on November 20 needn’t worry, Luna will remain in place as repairs are carried out on site.

The dog, one of 61 across Tyne and Wear, is named after Sunderland youngster Luna Petrucci.

Once the trail closes, the dogs will be auctioned off in aid of St Oswald’s Hospice.

Ahead of that a farewell weekend will be held from December 2 to 4 at Gateshead International Stadium.

The event will also feature a Christmas market with stalls selling gifts, street food and Snowdog merchandise, along with the chance to win a car in the St Oswald’s Hospice Annual Raffle.
