The six-year-old, from Southwick, decided to write the note to the monarch after thinking ahead to her next milestone day – and has already been practising her curtsy.

The English Martyrs’ Primary School pupil hopes the event will be extra special with an appearance from the Queen.

She said: “I wrote the letter because she’s a nice woman. I really want her to come to my birthday party.

“I hope she comes. I would ask her if she would like a cup of tea.”

The Queen marked her 92nd birthday last Saturday, with a second celebration date for the monarch set down on the second Saturday in June, so people can celebrate during what should be better weather.

Mum Christina, 38, a dinner lady at Northern Saints Primary School, dad Stephen, 48, who works in leaflet distribution, brother Stephen, 19, sister Carlie, 17, and stepsister Becky Ellis, 26, hope the note sent to Buckingham Palace will get a reply.

Christina said: “We were sitting in a car park while her dad went to get some groceries and Summer was sitting doodling in the back.

“I asked what she was doing and she said ‘I’m writing to the Queen and inviting her to my party’ but then when she showed it to me, I thought we should send it off.

“I posted the picture of her with it on social media and it was shared loads of times.

“We’ll just be having a tea party with the family around like we did last year, but hopefully the Queen will be there.

“We’ll certainly be having a party fit for a Queen whatever happens.

“We’ll get the finest china out and she’s already been trying out her curtsy and saying ‘Your Royal Highness’.”

Stephen Jnr posted the photo of Summer and her letter on his Facebook page.

The family has plenty of time to make plans for Summer’s birthday, should her invite be accepted, as she is seven in October.
