- Firefighters tackle blaze at former Farringdon Police Station
- A1(M) Northbound was closed for several hours between J63 for Chester-le-Street and J64 for Washington following an emergency service incident.
- The fire service confirmed the incident involved a transporter vehicle carrying hydrogen cylinders which are venting off.
- The motorway has now reopened and traffic is flowing freely.
6.47am: A1(M) closed following 'police incident'
The A1(M) northbound has been closed as emergency services deal with a police incident.
Police say the road could be closed for most of the day.
6.50am: A1(M) closed due to tanker spilling its load
Firefighters are at the scene on the A1(M) northbound where a tanker has leaked onto the carriageway.
The motorway is currently closed between Chester-le-Street and Washington (junction 64 to 64).
6.54am: Update from firefighters
A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: "Due to an ongoing incident where a tanker is venting off some cylinders the A1M NB between 63-64 is currently closed. Diversions are in place."
6.59am: Lane closure in place on Wearmouth Bridge due to ongoing police incident

7.03am: A1(M) update - police expect road to be closed through most of the day
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: "The A1M is currently closed northbound from Junction 63 at Chester Le Street to Junction 64 at Washington.
"The road is likely to be closed for most of today. Please take an alternative route."
