The Wearsiders host fourth-top Reading Women at Mariners Park in South Shields tomorrow (noon), looking to improve on last Saturday’s loss to Bristol City Women.

Defender Victoria Williams said: “Reading are a different team to the one we played at the beginning of the season; they seem to be in the ascendency a bit.

“But we pride this as being our home and a difficult place for teams to come to.

“We pushed Manchester City all the way here in the FA Cup, so there is no reason why we can’t push another quality team on our turf.

“We dominated possession (against Bristol City), especially in the first half, so if we can carry on that confidence and trust that way of playing then eventually we will create chances instead of lumping it long.”

After tomorrow, Mel Copeland’s side have three more games, away to Chelsea on May 12 and at home to Arsenal (May 16) and Yeovil (May 20).
