Sunderland head to Liverpool targeting all three points, says David Moyes

David Moyes would gladly take a point from Sunderland's trip to Liverpool - but the Black Cats boss is targeting all three.

A win at Anfield, coupled with results going in their favour elsewhere, would see Sunderland climb out of the relegation zone.

A daunting challenge faces in-form Sunderland, though, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side second in the Premier League and top scorers too with 30 goals so far.

Moyes is under no illusions as to how difficult it will be but he says Sunderland will go there with confidence.

“I would take a draw but I am going there to win,” said Moyes.

“We need the points. If we could get three points we could find ourselves climbing out of the bottom three, while we are in with that chance we have to try and do that.

“The landscape has changed with the two wins [over Bournemouth and Hull City].

“I wish that would have been the case in the early part of the season as we now have a lot of wins to get in a short period.

“It is a case of taking every game as it comes, lets get Liverpool out of the way and see where we go from there and hopefully we go into the New Year in a half decent position.”

Anfield has been transformed with a brand new main stand, which has added an extra 13,000 seats to the capacity.

Moyes added: “It is an iconic stadium and if you are a footballer then you want to have played there.

“It is also a very tough place to go and get a result.

“I have been there many times, my record has never been great there but we drew a lot of games there [as Everton boss].”
