Sunderland firefighters have taken part in a demonstration demanding an end to public sector cuts.

Central fire station FBU officer Gordon Chalk was among the public sector union demonstrators at Newcastle's Grey's Moument.

"The FBU was there representing the fire service and Unison representing the North East Ambulance Service," said /gordon.

"We petitioned the public and handed out leaflets alongside the FBU campaign fire engine."
