Sunderland chef cooks up a storm on Channel 4 show

A Sunderland chef who shed four stones through clean eating has been advising slimmers on a new Channel 4 show.

Stacie Stewart, from Roker, has been seen by millions on How to Lose Weight Well, a show which aims to dispel the myths that surround fad diets.

She’s no stranger to the small screen after stints in Masterchef, as a judge in Food Glorious Food and whipping up meals for presenters in the This Morning kitchen.

The new programme has seen the 34-year-old former St Anthony’s pupil create dishes from diets such as the blood group, apple cider vinegar and maple syrup diets, while other experts looked at the science and nutrition behind the diets.

Stacie said: “I guess I was on the producers’ radar from the other TV work I’ve done.

“They emailed me and asked if I wanted to meet up with them in London. I didn’t think anything of it, as I haven’t done TV for a while, but they asked me to be in the show.

“It was a great experience and was an interesting way of looking at the diets, all of them work to some degree, it’s just whether they have any longevity.”

Stacie moved from Wearside to Brighton last year to open the area’s first clean eating delicatessen, called Eat Naked.

She managed to drop from a size 16 to a 10 by ditching processed foods in favour of healthy, whole, unprocessed ingredients.

“It’s not something I ever thought I’d be doing. I used to be the type of person who would sit at the bus stop and eat four Double Deckers while I was waiting for the bus,” said the chef.

“But I feel like a new woman now, 10 years younger. So much of the food we eat has toxins and it’s amazing how good you feel when you cut those out. Not only has it changed me physically, it’s given me a new career.”

Stacie, who combines clean eating with exercise, is busy writing her second cookery book, called Eat Naked. Her first, Stacie Bakes, sold 30,000 copies in just three weeks.
