The Black Cats boss spent his Friday night watching Hibernian beat Dundee United 1-0 in the Scottish Championship clash at Tannadice Park.

The Scot is understood to have been keeping tabs on prolific striker Jason Cummings, midfielder John McGinn and centre-back Efe Ambrose.

Cummings, who was sent off after attempting to put the ball in the net with his hand against Dundee United, has caught the eye this season after scoring 20 goals in 31 appearances.

The in-form 21-year-old fired the Scottish Championship leaders in front with a fantastic volley but failed to see out the game after being dismissed.

McGinn, meanwhile, is a 22-year-old midfielder who has scored four goals in 28 appearances this season. Versatile defender Ambrose, 28, is on loan from Celtic.

Moyes enjoyed success when he was Everton boss signing players from the lower leagues and this was his second trip to watch second tier action in Scotland this year.

In January, Moyes cast his eye over much sought after Scottish full-back Tony Gallacher.

The 17-year-old Falkirk defender has been linked with Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool after breaking into the first team.

That visit in January was a wasted one for Moyes with the teenager an unused substitute as the Bairns ran out 2-1 winners in the Scottish Championship clash.

Sunderland have been casting their scouting net far and wide in recent weeks.

The Black Cats had representatives watch Olympiacos draw 1-1 with Besiktas in the Europa League last week, with Besiktas midfielder Tolgay Arslan the player they were keeping tabs on.

The German-born midfielder, 26, has made 29 appearances this season and has long-been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Sunderland's precarious league position hasn't stopped the club scouting potential summer signings, with Sunderland also keeping tabs on Serbian wonderkid Luka Adzic.

As reported by the Echo, the Black Cats sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old Crvena Zvevda youth prospect in the Eternal Derby against bitterest rivals Partizan Belgrade.

But they face a battle to land the youngster, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City also keeping an eye on Adzic’s progress.

A left winger, who can also play as a striker, Adzic is seen as one of the brightest lights in the Serbian game.
