Sunderland-born charity boss gets OBE

A former Sunderland woman's community work has been recognised in the New Year's Honours List.

Angela White, the chief executve of Sefton CVS in Merseyside, was awarded an OBE.

The former Monkwearouth School pupil, whose family live in Seaburn, heads the charity which provides support services to the borough’s voluntary, community and faith sector.

Her award was in recognition of her “services to community action.”

Angela, who studied English at Lancaster University and Divinty at Manchester University said; “This award came completely out of the blue and I am both overwhelmed and humbled to have been recognised in this way.”
