Sunderland AFC squad stranded in Southampton after plane fails to take off in fog

The Sunderland AFC squad found themselves stranded in Southampton last night after their plane failed to take off in thick fog.

David Moyes' side slipped to a 1-0 loss at Southampton last night.

The Black Cats' players and staff had been due to fly back to the North East immediately after last night's 1-0 defeat in the League Cup.

However, because of the conditions, they were forced to stay an extra night on the south coast.

A spokesman for the club confirmed to the Echo that the flight home had been rearranged for today, and they are due to set off early this afternoon.
