Sunderland AFC news: West Ham's £15m Kone link; Moyes transfer bid; pundit blasts Klopp; Matthews latest

As the row over Sunderland's tactics at Liverpool rumbles on, the Black Cats may have to brace themselves for a big-money bid for Lamine Kone.

The centre-half has been linked with a £15million move to West Ham by the national media in recent days.

Kone became unsettled in the summer amid interest from Everton, but stayed at the Stadium of Light and signed a new and improved contract.

However, that hasn't stopped clubs from sniffing around the defender, with West Ham the latest to be linked with a January move.

Given David Moyes turned down an £18million bid from Everton, though, reports that Kone could leave for just £15million appear fanciful.

Rather than selling in January, Moyes is looking to add to his squad as noted in his comments to the Echo.

Kone put in an improved performance at the weekend as Sunderland tried to stifle Liverpool at Anfield in a defensive display which saw Reds boss Jurgen Klopp criticise Moyes' tactics.

The Wearside boss has today hit back at the German however. Read his comments here.

And BBC pundit Phil Neville - a long-time associate of Moyes as both a player and coach - has waded into the argument, calling Klopp 'disrespectful'.

Elsewhere, Adam Matthews' future appears still uncertain at Bristol City.

The full-back, on loan from Sunderland, made the headlines last week after Robins boss Lee Johnson revealed he'd dropped the Welshman for disciplinary reasons.

Matthews was again left out of the City squad at the weekend amid fitness worries, but is set to play for their Under-23s today against Ipswich in a bid to force his way back into Johnson's plans.
