Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce has been meeting the press this morning ahead of the home game with Manchester City next Tuesday night.

And Allardyce has revealed he is hopeful of signing at least one more player before the 11pm transfer window deadline on Monday.

But the club's on-off pursuit of Swansea City forward Andre Ayew looks to be over.

Allardyce said: "I think certainly one more will be achieved before Monday.

"Any more than that will be dependent on the negotiations."

The Uruguayan international has undergone a medical and discuss personal terms with Sporting today, before completing a move which could see Sunderland recoup more than £3m if he is sold next summer.

Allardyce said: "The result was nothing. If we had lost 6-0, it wouldn't have mattered to me whatsoever.

"All that mattered was how the players played and got through 90 minutes of a quality, high-tempo game at the Stadium of Light."
