The Everton game will come too soon for Jan Kirchhoff, as David Moyes prepares to take his Sunderland side to Everton.

Elsewhere, Steven Pienaar is a doubt for the trip to Goodison Park with a calf injury but Jordan Pickford is back in training and hoping for a recall in place of Vito Mannone.

Moyes said: "Most people are back, Jordan Pickford’s had a good week training, he’s now available.

"Jan Kichhoff’s trained this week but it’s only his first few days, he’s had about three or four days. He’s not available yet but certainly getting much closer to it.

"Victor Anichebe’s had the brace taken off his knee, so hopefully that’s good news.

"Rodwell will start running today so that’s good news. Steven Pienaar has just felt his calf a little bit in training so until we’ve trained this morning I won’t be able to know exactly how he is."

Earlier this week, Sunderland AFC confirmed that jobs are set to go at the club.

The Black Cats confirmed that following a review of its business operations, a number of roles and departments will be "consolidated", leading to a "reduction of the club’s workforce".

The internal process is underway. The number of jobs affected has not been specified but the number of jobs isn't dependent on survival.

Speaking at this morning's press conference, Moyes told Tyne Tees: "We feel really sorry and sad for the people who've lost their jobs because I know what it means to this region.

"I know that it's a tough tough region and jobs are really important but I also hope that people would look and say it's not just what's happened now it's what's happened beforehand.

"It's had to be a realignment of things at the club, these decisions have had to be taken, I feel really bad for the people who've lost their jobs."
