SUNDERLAND 4-4-2

Jordan Pickford: If there was any doubt over who is the No1 keeper it was answered here, the 22-year-old making four stunning saves, including the best when the Cats were creaking a little at 2-0. 8

Billy Jones: Had the first home chance of the game when his shot was blocked and was almost in at end of first half. 6

Papy Djilobodji: Was sad to see a good display end with a second yellow card near the death. Had continued his fine form and brought the ball out confidently. 7

Lamine Kone: A few scares early on made way for a decent display. 6

Patrick van Aanholt: After a slow start, he grew into the game, getting forward well, and had a say in the crucial second goal ahead of nodding TWO off his own line as Hull threatened. 7

Jason Denayer: Installed in front of the back four and did a fine job in the midfield. 6

Didier Ndong: Almost gifted Hull the lead when he gave the ball away and was let off the hook by Pickford's save. Otherwise, looked the most positive of the central players. 6

Paddy McNair: Looked set for a first-half exit with injury but recovered well and got forward several times in second period. Subbed late on after a knock. 6

Duncan Watmore: Was unlucky not to be awarded a first-half pen after being felled by keeper Marshall but had assists for the first and second goals. 7

Jermain Defoe: 150 not out for the skipper in the Premier League, his landmark goal superbly taken to set Sunderland on their way. 7
