Sunderland (4-1-4-1)
Vito Mannone: Saw plenty of the ball in the first half, made superb save to deny Sanchez from free-kick. Excellent stop second half from Sanchez. Key player....8
DeAndre Yedlin: Could have conceded a penalty but aside from that was excellent at the back. Great block to deny Iwobi. Some important clearances....7

Hide AdLamine Kone: Won his fair share of headers and helped keep a lid on Giroud who was very poor. Third clean sheet out of four for the defence.....7

Younes Kaboul: Solid afternoon for the Frenchman. Spared Mannone's blushes too when the keeper came rushing out and missed a header.....7
Patrick van Aanholt: Hit the angle of post and bar with a superb free-kick, Cech was well beaten. Solid at the back....7

Hide AdJan Kirchhoff: Sunderland were well organised and fought for every ball. Kirchhoff not as dominating as usual but certainly played his part. Took a knock and tired, was subbed....7
Fabio Borini: Worked hard defensively, covered a lot of ground. Didn't have many sights on goal and was withdrawn....6
Lee Cattermole (C): A real leader in the middle of the park, cajoling his teammates at every break. Too many passes went astray but made a good contribution.....7
Yann M'Vila: Failed to get into the game first half. Saw one shot curl wide and had little impact. Second half far more productive but still wasteful in possession.....6

Hide AdWahbi Khazri: Excellent. Sunderland's best player first half, covered a lot of ground and posed a real threat coming in off the left wing. Carried that threat into second half. MOM..8
Jermain Defoe: Again isolated at times but worked hard causing the Arsenal defence problems. Saw a strong penalty appeal waved away. Cech denied him second half...7
Subs:
Duncan Watmore (for Borini, 74): Added some extra legs and energy.....6
