Steels Social Club Over-40s organising reunion

Steels Social Club Over-40s are organising a reunion of former players, managers and committee men.

The team folded this season, due to a lack of players, but they were stalwarts of the Over-40s League for many years.

John Cumiskey, involved with the team for 26 years, said: “This season, we have had to wind the club up due to the lack of players – it has been getting harder season after season trying to get the right players of the quality to play in the 40s Premier Division.

“In the past, we have had many top players, including ex-professionals such as Gary Bennett, Peter Stronach, Kenny Mitchell and Kevin Young, to name a few.

“I am busy organising a reunion evening, along with our ex-secretary and league chairman Wilfy Harrison. It will be held in Steels Club on Friday, May 12.”
