Spruce and Brown hold their nerve to seal Mill View's first victory

Mill View are celebrating after winning their first game of the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League winter league season with a 3-2 success over The Hetton Centre.

Adrian Daniel got Mill View off to a great start against Ernie Bonsall, winning 68-37.

Lee Dixon increased the lead against Stephen Rushworth, before Joe Nord pulled a leg back for Hetton.

Paul Nord levelled the match after winning a close fourth frame against Stephen Chandler 67-60, before John Spruce/Norman Brown won Mill View the match when they beat Stephen Rushworth/Ernie Bonsall in the pairs 58-27.

Washington Snooker started well away at Seaham Conservatives A with Stephen Thompson winning the first frame.

A 28-break helped Stephen Maratty level the match, before Michael Monaghan defeated Norman Leslie 57-28 to move Seaham into the lead.

Roful Hoque levelled the match winning the fourth frame, but a 24-break by Norman Leslie and a 37-break by Stephen Thompson saw Washington dominate the pairs 95-18 for the 3-2 win.

Whitburn strolled to a 5-0 success over The Victory, thanks to winning legs from Mark Fox, Joseph Cromby, Tony Hazard, John Smith and Graeme Ablett, when paired with Smith.

Steels travelled to Lumley and had Tom Ayre putting them into a first frame lead.

Jimmy Jackson levelled the match, before Ray Charlton Junior moved Steels back into the lead.

Jimmy Gales increased the lead with an excellent result over Brian Meuse, before Sean Henderson/Brian Meuse won the pairs, defeating Ray Charlton Senior/Lee Norton 75-30 to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

Seaham Conservatives B secured a 4-1 away win over Pennywell Comrades, thanks to Robin Midson, Manna Singh, Jimmy Ashcroft and Justin Ebdy/Bobby Carne. Dean Taylor replied for Pennywell.

Biddick B also ran out 4-1 winners over Murton Colliery with winning frames coming from Peter Mills, John Temple, Paul Cobb and Philip Straughan/Trevor Walton

Ryan Lowes sealed Murton’s solitary win.

The match between Glendale and South Hylton was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before South Hylton took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Adam Smith won the first frame against Thomas Gwyn on the final black 66-59, before Marc Smithson levelled the match.

Graham Rutland moved Hylton back into the lead, beating John Danby 65-48, before Frank McParlin won another black ball frame beating Ian Stewart 64-61.

In the pairs, Kevin Harrop/Chris Robson beat Marc Smithson/Paul Atkinson 47-41 for the win.
