Springwell - Down Your Way

Do you enjoy gardening and have few hours to spare? St Mary and St Peter's Project is looking for volunteers to help with the maintenance of the community garden. Volunteers meet every Monday from 9.30am to noon. If you would like to help then go along on a Monday and enjoy an cup of tea or coffee and talk to garden group members, other days and times can be arranged. St Mary and St Peter’s next social event will be on Friday, June 24, at 7.15pm. The Old Time Music Hall will feature local acts and fun raffle, bingo and supper. Tickets are £3.50 for adults and £2 for children.

A Deanery Confirmation Service will be held at St Mary and St Peter’s Church on Saturday, June 25, at 6pm.

Jim, activities co-ordinator at Thornbury Care Centre, Thorney Close, completed his sponsored walk last month, raising a tremendous £231. He would like to thank everyone who supported him during his walk from Thornbury Care Centre to Seaham (Tommy statue) and a very special thank you to the congregation and members of St Mary and St Peter’s Church who donated £50. All the money raised will be spent on equipment (garden equipment and outside furniture) so everyone at the centre can enjoy the sunshine. Formore information, contact Jim on 0191 520 1881.

Thornbury Care Centre will be holding an open day and tea party on Friday and all are welcome to go along and join in the fun. Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits will be served throughout the day and the event is free. Everyone looks forward to seeing you.

Humbledon Methodist Church runs a number of weekly activities including:

Sunday: Morning worship at 10.45am; Monday: Brownies at 6.30pm; Tuesday: WeightWatchers from 6pm; Wednesday: Open door from 10.30am to 1pm with coffee and light lunches served; Thursday: Slimming World from 6.30pm.
