Springwell - Down Your Way

Do you enjoy gardening and have few hours to spare? St Mary and St Peter's Project is looking for volunteers to help with the maintenance of the community garden. Volunteers meet every Monday from 9.30am to noon. If you would like to help then go along on a Monday and enjoy an cup of tea or coffee and talk to garden group members, other days and times can be arranged. There are places available at the toddler group which meets every Wednesday (term time) from 9.30am-11am. Sessions cost £1.50 per child and includes toast and juice.

St Mary and St Peter’s next Social evening takes place on Friday at 7.15 pm with Old Tyme Music Hall, food, raffle, bingo and entertainment. Tickets are £3.50 for adults and £2 for children.

A Deanery Confirmation service will be held at St Mary and St Peter’s Church at 6pm on Saturday.

There will be no Eucharist at St Mary and St Peter’s Church on Sunday, July 3. An evening Eucharist will be held at St Thomas Church, Pennywell, at 7pm for the Patronal Festival and to welcome the new curate Fr Paul Barker.

Tuesday: 10am-10.45am, feeling fit; 1pm-3pm, art club; 5pm and 7pm, Slimming World.Wednesday: 9.30am-noon, volunteer gardening: 9.30am-11am, toddler group (term time only). Thursday: 10am-noon and 1pm-3pm, card craft ; evening bingo. Friday: 10am-noon, card craft; 10am-10.45am, feeling fit. Saturday: Susan Ridley School of Dance.

Sunday: Morning worship at 10.45am; Monday: Brownies at 6.30pm; Tuesday: Weight Watchers from 6pm; Wednesday: Open door from 10.30am to 1pm with coffee and light lunches served; Thursday: Slimming World from 6.30pm.

Members and friends of Humbledon Methodist Church enjoyed the indoor street party in celebration of the Queens 90th birthday, held on Saturday, June 11.

A concert by the Happy Days Singers will be held in the Methodist church on Saturday, July 2, at 2.30pm, followed by light refreshments. Tickets are available at £5. The last event until September will be on Saturday, July 23, at 3pm. This will be “Afternoon Tea at the Ritz”. Tickets, £5, are available now.
