South Hylton - Down Your Way

Two members of South Hylton Local History Society, John and Irene entertained fellow members at the Societ's Christmas meeting. Lots of fun and nostalgia was enjoyed by everyone attending. At this month's meeting another member, Anne Chisholm, talked about Nursery Rhymes, their origins and myths. She was helped by other members and there was great input from everyone, bringing back memories of their childhood. The society meets on the third Monday of each month in the Tansy Centre at 7pm. Entrance to this ever-popular meeting is £1.50, which includes tea, coffee and biscuits and a free door raffle. Do something new this year and go along and join like-minded people and make new friends. The next meeting will be on February 15. You will be very welcome.

The Residents’ Association holds the fortnightly coffee morning in the Tansy Centre stating at 10am. This is followed at noon by the Luncheon Club. A two-course meal is followed by tea and coffee at a cost of £3.50. It would be a great help with catering if you contacted Edna on 534 3910 to let her know you were going along.

The next Hylton WI meeting will be on February 8 in the Tansy Centre at 7pm. Guest speaker will be Ingrid Kilner with Behind the Veil. New members are welcome.
