Freda was born in Darlington but came to Sunderland as a young woman where she ran a pharmacy in Mere Knowles Road with her husband Bryan. They were there for many years and were very well known in the area. Mrs Hodgson’s favourite pastime was flower arranging and she became quite an expert in this field. When The Cliff public house opened, in Mere Knowles Road, Freda was invited to do all the flower arrangements for that special day. Bryan and Ian, Freda’s two sons were at the home to celebrate this special milestone, together with Freda’s four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Freda is also looking forward to her first great, great-grandchild this year. A very keen Sunderland supporter Freda still shows and interest in her favourite football team.
