South Hylton - Down Your Way

The senior section of Girlguiding.uk celebrated the launch of its centenary year at a spectacular event at Alexandra Palace. The 2nd South Hylton Senior Section girls and Guides had a wonderful day taking part in a vast array of activities along with 7,000 girls from all over the country. The unit is very grateful for the financial support given for this event by Community Chest funding from St Anne's Ward.

The 2nd South Hylton Guides held a presentation evening to celebrate the achievement of Georgia, Jessica, Alex and Alexandra in gaining their Baden Powell Challenge Award. This is the highest award a Guide can achieve and involves exploring healthy lifestyles, global awareness, discovery, skills and relationships and celebrating diversity followed by a residential adventure.

South Hylton Independent Methodist Church Good Friday service starts at 10.30am. There will be Easter praise at 10.30am and 6pm on Sunday, March 27.

South Hylton Local History Society is looking forward to meeting guest speakers Sheila and John Moreels at their next meeting with Nostalgic Views of the North. Go along to the Tansy Centre for 7pm on Monday, March 21. Entry to this popular monthly meeting is £1.50, which includes a door raffle, tea, coffee and biscuits. Final arrangements will be made for the AGM on April 18. There will be a bring-and-share supper at this meeting.
