Firefighters tackled a caravan fire in Sunderland which sent plumes of black smoke billowing over the city’s skyline.

Two crews from Sunderland Central fire station were called to the scene of the blaze involving one caravan on Thelma Street at 4.11pm on Sunday, August 30.
During the incident residents in the area reported seeing large amounts of black smoke visible from the top of Chester Road in the city.

Hide AdTyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews left the scene at 4.40pm but were unable to say what caused the fire.
