The 32-year-old singer-songwriter was born in Whitburn, to an English mother from South Shields of part-Norwegian ancestry and a Pakistani father.

She now divides her time between the village and Camberwell in London, so she can be close to the centre of the UK music industry.

She released two EPs, Aching Bones and Dreary Town, before her debut album, Love Your Dum and Mad, emerged to critical acclaim in 2013.

Nadine was also nominated for this year's Mercury music prize.

In a statement on her Twitter page she said: "Dear friends. I am so sorry but I am cancelling the whole of my upcoming tour.

"I need to be home in the North East with my family during this very difficult time we are facing.

"As soon as all is back as it should be and we have come out of the other side I will be back to hopefully play these gigs at a rescheduled date.

"I'm sorry to have disappointed or to have let you down as your support means so much to me but I need to be with my family.

"Love Nadine x."
