Thanks was expressed to the 13 members who took part in the sponsored welly plodge at Seaburn also to the members of Cleadon WI who provided lunch afterwards. The next meeting will be held this Thursday at 7pm in North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth. Fred Raffle will be the speaker.

Are there any young aspiring runners out there who would like to raise money for St Benedict’s Hospice, Ryhope? There are places available for the Junior Great North Run, which will be held on Saturday, September 10, as part of the Great North Run weekend. There is no entry fee but you are asked to raise as much as you can in sponsorship. If interested, call 0191 512 8436 or email [email protected]

Thanks to the generous support from the Community Foundation and The Sir Tom Cowie Fund, young people from the Blue Watch Youth Centre, with special needs and disabilities, have been developing independent living skills and abilities to self-care through engaging in daytime and overnight residential experiences. The project has been a great success with over 30 young people enjoying a range of experiences and developing new skills including shopping, house-keeping, cooking and independent travel. Anyone who requires information on this programme, contact Joanne on 5214 060.
