Silksworth and Ryhope - Down Your Way

Ryhope Community Forum will be held tomorrow at 11am in Ryhope Community Centre. There will be representatives from Northumberland Police, Sunderland City Council, Gentoo and Local Councillors. Go along to find out what's happening in your area and have an opportunity to raise any concerns or issues you may have. Everyone is welcome.

Silksworth Heritage Group will meet on Monday, May 16, in Beckwith Mews at 1.30pm. Speaker will be Norman Kirtla,n forensic scientist, presenting Sunderland murders. Admission is £1, which includes refreshments. All are welcome.

Silksworth IM Church, behind Blind Lane, is holding an all day breakfast in aid of Christian Aid on Saturday, May 21, from 10am-2pm.There will be craft activities and a cake stall. An afternoon tea will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 3pm, with musical entertainment from Graham Brown and his talented pupils. Tickets, £6, are available from Jean on 5213278 and Linda on 5226305. Proceeds are for the Nehemiah Global Ministries, Ghanaian School. All are welcome.

At Tunstall WI’s annual meeting, Jennifer Vincent was re-elected as president to begin her 19th year. All members and five visitors enjoyed the egg jarping with much laughter and was won by Jennie Temple. A report was given on the council meeting, which was held at Wrekenton for the first time with good attendance.The next meeting will be onThursday at 7pm in North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth. There will be a fashion show by Bon Marche with items to purchase (cash only). Members will be reminded of the group meeting on Thursday, May 19, from 7pm-9.30pm also to be held at North Street Methodist Church when Tunstall WI will be the hostess institute. It will be a Country and Western theme with members dressing accordingly (optional). This event is ticket only and all tickets have been sold. The two resolutions for the AGM at Brighton on June 11 will be discussed. The competition is an informative tea towel. Visitors are welcome.
