Silksworth Independent Church, behind Blind Lane, is having an afternoon tea on Saturday, June 4, at 3pm, with musical entertainment from renowned organist Graham Brown and his friends.Tickets, £5, are available from Jean on 5213278. A six-week sewing course is starting for beginners and improvers in Ryhope Community Centre on Friday, June 10, from 9.45am-noon. Fee is £36 or free if in receipt of a means tested benefit. Contact Donna Utterson 07887821462, [email protected] or online enrolment at www.wea.org.uk

The Men’s Den meets in Ryhope Community Centre every Thursday from 10am-noon. You can play dominoes, cards, do crosswords and meet new friends. The sessions are free and refreshments are included.

North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth, is having a coffee morning on Saturday from 10am-noon. There will be cake and Fair Traid stalls.

The next meeting of the Church View Patient Group, will take place at Church View Medical Centre, Silksworth, tomorrow at 5.30pm. The speaker will be Henny Carmichael, practice manager. Refreshments will be provided at the start of the meeting. All patients are welcome.

Every donation made to St Benedict’s Hospice, Ryhope, is gratefully received and makes a real difference to the experience it offers patients and their families. June is Hospice Sunflower Month, and you ae invited to celebrate happy memories by taking part. In return for a donation the hospice will write the name of someone special to you on a Sunflower Plaque which will then be displayed in the hospice gardens throughout June. You are then invited to go along on Saturday, June 25, between 1pm-4pm for a Sunflower Afternoon Tea. June is also Make a Will month, This gives you an opportunity to make a will free of charge in return for a donation to the hospice.
