This evening, Mrs J Wright will preside at the 7pm evening service at the Spiritualist Church,Vane Terrace. Entrance is £3.50. All are welcome.

Ash Wednesday services will be held at 10am in Christ Church, New Seaham, and 7pm at St Andrew’s, Dalton-le-Dale.

On Friday Seaham Methodist Church will hold ‘ten worship’. Everyone is welcome to join in the cafe-style worship with contemporary music from the worship band. A Coffee Morning and Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, February 13 from 10.30am. The Bake Sale has all your favourite fresh home baked goods, cupcakes, scones, fresh cream cakes, meringues and pastries. Money raised supports Church funds. £1 entry at door includes cup tea/coffee. Everybody welcome.

This Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent, services will be: Celebration of Holy Communion at 9.15am at St Andrew’s, Dalton-le-Dale, and Christ Church, New Seaham, at 6pm. Morning prayer will be held at Christ Church at 10am. Everyone is welcome.

Lent Church Swap. There will be no afternoon service on Sunday in Seaham Methodists Church. Normal services will resume the following week.

Seaham and District Scout Association Beaver Section will hold its annual five-a-side football competition on Friday. See Group Beaver Leaders for further information. Parental permission forms required.

All members of the Seaham Branch of the Royal British Legion are requested to attend the next meeting on Wednesday, February 17, at 7.30pm to be held in the Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, Seaham.

The death occurred on Wednesday, January 27, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Oadby, Leicester, of Cyril Davison, a former well known and respected Scouter in Seaham and District and long term Scout Leader of Dawdon Scouts. On moving to Oadby, Cyril continued his Scouting, serving on the county training team and as a member of the Quest Lodge. He is sadly missed.

A coffee afternoon will be held in Seaham Trinity Primary School on Friday from 2.30pm to help raise awareness of Children’s Mental Health Week. Funds raised will go towards providing quiet spaces in around the school for the children to use. The school nurse, health visitor and a representative from CAHMS will be in attendance. Members of the community are welcome to go along.
