Seaham - Down Your Way

Dawdon Youth and Community Centre's Youth Hub is hosting an Easter family funday on Wednesday, April 6, from noon-4pm.

There will be free activities, dance, sport and creative play workshops. There will be outdoor inflatables, disco, Easter egg hunt, decorated Easter egg competition (eggs and craft materials all included), free healthy snack tables, a wide variety of good quality stalls, low cost cafe and games sessions on the outdoor gym hub. The event is supported by East Durham Area Action Partnerships Holiday Hunger Fund, Barclays Bank and all proceeds will support children and young people’s summer holiday activities. Ecumenical services will continue to be held as usual throughout the town during Holy Week. A service will be held at 7pm this evening in Seaham Methodist Church and tomorrow at 7pm, the service will be held in St Mary Magdalene’s Church, and Thursday’s service is at Christ Church at 7pm. On Good Friday the Walk of Witness will begin at St Cuthbert’s Church, Mill Inn, at 10am, calling at Christ Church, Stanley Street IM, St Mary Magdalene’s and completing the walk at Seaham Harbour Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome for the whole Walk of Witness’or for part of it.

There is to be an Easter Vigil at St Andrew’s, Dalton-le-Dale, at 8pm on Saturday evening and on Easter Day Holy Communion will be celebrated at Christ Church at 10am and at 6pm, and also at St Andrew’s at 6pm.

‘Cree-ation’ men’s group takes place at Eastlea Community Centre every Monday,from 2pm-4pm. Come along and try therapeutic art or making mosaics whilst having a cuppa in a relaxed and friendly environment. Ring 5812399 for more information.

Next Tuesday, March 29, there will be an evening service at 7pm in Seaham Spiritualist Church, Vane Hall, Cornelia Terrace, led by Mr R Batey. Entrance is £3.50.

St John the Evangelist Seaham, and All Saints, Deneside are holding Holy Week services at both venues. Times can be found on the Notice Boards and in the Parish Magazine.

There will be a talk by Linda Baker on The Seaham Riots of 1874 at the meeting of The Friends in St John’s Parish Room at 7pm on March 30.

Christ Church Toddlers meet every Tuesday, between 9.30am-11.35am in the church.
