After a recent visit to Christ Church, children from Trinity School wrote wonderful letters of thanks and appreciation for the tour of the church, stories of the stained glass windows, an explanation of Baptism services, the mining disasters and much more. The letters were much appreciated

The strawberry cream tea and photographic display to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, held in St Andrew’s Church on Saturday, June 11, raised £302.05. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making it such a successful and friendly afternoon.

This evening, Mr M Havelock will preside at the evening service at 7pm held in Seaham SNU Church, Vale Hall, Cornelia Terrace. Entry is £3.50. All are welcome.

Quit smoking sessions take place at Eastlea Community Centre on Mondays from 1pm to 2pm. Pop in and speak to June for more information.

Time is running out if you wish to book a place in the Seaham Triathlon on July 3. There will be a 500m swim at Peterlee swimming pool, followed by a seven-mile bike ride to Seaham and finishing with a five-mile run along the coast. Entry is £14. There will be a Sung Eucharist at 9.30am at All Saints’, Deneside, on Sunday at 11am, Parish Eucharist at St John the Evangelist.

On Sunday (the fifth Sunday after Trinity) there will be Holy Communion at 10am at Christ Church, New Seaham, and at 6pm a service of evening prayer will be held. A short service of Holy Communion is held each Wednesday at 10am.

The Friends of St John’s will meet in the church hall for an ‘Italian Nite’ on Wednesday, June 29. Go along and share in the good food and good company.

Christ Church Mothers’ Union annual pie lunch and social afternoon is to be held on Monday, July 4, in the church hall, 12.30pm for 1pm. Tickets are £4, available from Elizabeth on 5810419 or any MU member. Numbers are required for catering.

New members wishing to join the Seaham Branch of the Royal British Legion are welcome to go along to a meeting which is held in The Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, Seaham, on the third Wednesday of the month.
