Seaham aiming to turn late heartbreak into joy

Seaham welcome high-flying Shields to town(2.15pm kick off), who have claimed 12 victories and only suffered defeats twice this season.

Against Richmondshire, Seaham took advantage of the slow start from their opponents and dominated the first quarter of an hour.

From this point, Richmondshire woke up and put Seaham well and truly on the back foot.

Pushing Seaham back to just outside their 22 yard line, the referee blew for a penalty right in front of the posts, which Richmondshire duly took to reduced the score to 7-3.

Seaham skipper Michael Bland was given a red car for constant infringement and this allowed Richmondshire back into the game.

Minute later, another penalty was awarded to Richmondshire and this brought the scores to within one point.

With the clock ticking, Richmondshire came alive, but Seaham still looked threatening on the break.

Richmondshire resorted to pulling the maul down which gave Seaham the penalty, and Steele kicked to put Seaham close to the visitors’ try line.

A knock on then a lofty clearance from the scrum half sent the ball way into the Seaham half which was covered well by Giblin.

However, Richmondshire were awarded a late penalty and the resulting kick saw them take the lead right on the final whistle.
