Durham Police said the charges relate to allegations of an abuse of a position of trust.

Reid was first arrested more than two years ago amid allegations that money had gone missing. He withdrew from public ministry while investigations were carried out.

Reid will appear at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on August 30.
