THE good old days of a now-defunct club were relived during a reunion.

A gathering for past members of the Easington Village Club’s rock night took place at Peterlee Catholic Club in Grampian Drive.

The reunion has been running twice a year for the past few years, and is a recreation of the club’s rock nights.

Dozens of people attended the event, which was held around the time of Halloween, and was organised by Sam Brown, her dad Paul Brown and Paul Terry.

Paul Thompson was the DJ at the event and he had been taking requests on a Facebook page set up to promote the event prior to the night.

The rock night at the Easington club previously ran between the 1980s until the mid-90s and was organised by Sam’s father.

Paul Brown, 53, who is formerly of Shotton Colliery but now living in Haswell, organised the events until the nights stopped.

It was the sixth reunion and hundreds of people have attended previous rock night gatherings.

Sam said: “I hope everyone had an awesome night.”

Thomas Barnes wrote on the event’s Facebook page: “Had a canny good time.”

Ken Barnes wrote that he expected a lot more people to turn up, but added: “It was good banter though.”

Previous gatherings have been held at The Hearts of Oak pub, in Peterlee, and patrons of the reunions have helped to raise money for charity, including for St Benedict’s Hospice, in Sunderland, in memory of a former rock club-goer.

People can upload their pictures from the night to the event’s Facebook page at Easington Village Club Rock Night Reunion.
