Queen's posh council house

May I contradict Carol Oates over her remarks on the repairs to Buckingham Palace.

The Queen does not own the Palace, she is merely the tenant, as it belongs to the nation, and that is why the nation is to pay. In other words, Buckingham Palace is a council house, a posh one I grant you, but a council house nevertheless. In any case, the funds are to be provided from the income from the Crown Estates. As the income from the Crown Estates exceeds £30 million per annum, I do not think we taxpayers will feel any difference over the next ten years, as the rest of the profits benefit us all. Do we want to see some Head of State electrocuted on a state visit? I think not.
